A causa del context geogr\u00e0fic, del canvi clim\u00e0tic o simplement per gestions poc sostenibles, en algunes regions el volum de recursos h\u00eddrics disponibles es pot veure comprom\u00e8s per les generacions futures. D\u2019entre aquests recursos, destaquen les aig\u00fces superficials, reserves d\u2019aigua dol\u00e7a de f\u00e0cil extracci\u00f3. Degut a aquesta facilitat de captaci\u00f3, emmagatzematge i transport part de l\u2019aigua potable produ\u00efda procedeix d\u2019aig\u00fces dolces superficials. Les aig\u00fces dolces superficials esdevenen un element clau no tan sols dins del cicle hidrol\u00f2gic sin\u00f3 pel cicle antr\u00f2pic de l\u2019aigua, jugant un paper important en els processos de depuraci\u00f3 i potabilitzaci\u00f3 del recursos h\u00eddrics.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Aix\u00ed doncs, el proc\u00e9s de potabilitzaci\u00f3 de l\u2019aigua compr\u00e8n un seguit de tractaments aplicats a l\u2019aigua amb l\u2019objectiu d\u2019eliminar contaminants i la generaci\u00f3 d\u2019una aigua apte pel consum hum\u00e0, sempre dins del marc dels l\u00edmits i les consignes establertes en la directiva vigent. D\u2019entre aquests contaminants en destaca la mat\u00e8ria org\u00e0nica natural o NOM (de l\u2019angl\u00e8s, natural organic matter), un\u00a0 conjunt de components org\u00e0nics presents en totes les aig\u00fces superficials, els quals s\u00f3n producte b\u00e0sicament de la descomposici\u00f3 i l\u2019activitat microbiol\u00f2gica. Pel que fa a l\u2019aigua potable la NOM suposa un repte per la gesti\u00f3, ja que la seva eliminaci\u00f3 resulta essencial per assegurar la qualitat de l\u2019aigua produ\u00efda. El car\u00e0cter heterogeni de la NOM, les fluctuacions en el fraccionament d\u2019aquesta i la seva capacitat per reaccionar amb els reactius empleats per la desinfecci\u00f3 generant subproductes o DBPs (de l\u2019angl\u00e8s, disinfection by-products) fan que la seva eliminaci\u00f3 suposi un repte des de la captaci\u00f3 de l\u2019aigua, passant pel tractament i la posterior distribuci\u00f3 d\u2019aquesta.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dins del tren de tractament de l\u2019aigua potable, la coagulaci\u00f3 \u00e9s un tractament fisicoqu\u00edmic \u00e0mpliament est\u00e8s, localitzat a l\u2019inici del tractament (tractament convencional) i que presenta un alt potencial per l\u2019eliminaci\u00f3 de la NOM. A partir d\u2019aqu\u00ed, l\u2019optimitzaci\u00f3 de la coagulaci\u00f3 es pot dur a terme en base la qualitat de l\u2019aigua produ\u00efda. Hi ha un seguit de factors que determinen el rendiment de la coagulaci\u00f3 per l\u2019eliminaci\u00f3 de la NOM, entre dels quals en destaquen el fraccionament de la NOM i les dosificacions de reactius aplicats.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A mesura que la digitalitzaci\u00f3 s\u2019instaura transversalment a la societat, el sector de l\u2019aigua no n\u2019\u00e9s una excepci\u00f3. La investigaci\u00f3 i el desenvolupament de sensors i analitzadors en l\u00ednia eficients i econ\u00f2micament competitius ha perm\u00e8s monitoritzar par\u00e0metres relacionats amb la NOM a la captaci\u00f3 i durant el tractament de l\u2019aigua, incloent la coagulaci\u00f3. Aquestes dades queden cont\u00ednuament enregistrades dins les bases de dades, l\u2019estudi de les quals pot aportar informaci\u00f3 preuada per poder detectar tend\u00e8ncies i comportaments aix\u00ed com per la determinaci\u00f3 dels \u00f2ptims operatius.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019objectiu principal d\u2019aquesta tesi \u00e9s el desenvolupament d\u2019uns sistemes d\u2019ajut a la decisi\u00f3 o EDSS (de l\u2019angl\u00e8s environmental decision support systems) per la coagulaci\u00f3 millorada a tres estacions de tractament d\u2019aigua potable o DWTP (de l\u2019angl\u00e8s, drinking water treatment plants) de la regi\u00f3 mediterr\u00e0nia.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>El fet de desenvolupar un EDSS per la coagulaci\u00f3 millorada ha compr\u00e9s diverses tasques referents a l\u2019adquisici\u00f3 de dades i coneixement aix\u00ed com l\u2019an\u00e0lisi de les dades i el desenvolupament de models espec\u00edfics per la coagulaci\u00f3 millorada.
