data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>La combinaci\u00f3 de l\u2019escassetat d\u2019aigua amb la contaminaci\u00f3 de l\u2019aigua disponible planteja reptes importants per l\u2019Administraci\u00f3 i la societat. Aquest problema s\u2019agreuja a les zones rurals, que tenen un acc\u00e9s limitat als serveis de gesti\u00f3 de l\u2019aigua. L\u2019agricultura moderna i les pr\u00e0ctiques productives de la ramaderia intensiva contribueixen de manera significativa a la contaminaci\u00f3 de l\u2019aigua per nitrats. Aix\u00f2 comporta una necessitat urgent de desenvolupar solucions sostenibles descentralitzades.<\/p>\n<p>Aquesta tesi doctoral se centra en l\u2019eliminaci\u00f3 de nitrats per mitj\u00e0 de <strong>l\u2019electro-bioremediaci\u00f3 de l\u2019aigua<\/strong>, una tecnologia que aprofita la capacitat d\u2019alguns microorganismes per intercanviar electrons amb un material s\u00f2lid. Aix\u00ed, el nitrat es redueix a dinitrogen gas (que \u00e9s innocu) fent servir un c\u00e0tode com a donador d\u2019electrons. Aquest proc\u00e9s innovador elimina la necessitat d\u2019afegir productes qu\u00edmics a l\u2019aigua com a agents reductors, una pr\u00e0ctica comuna en tractaments convencionals, i evita aix\u00ed la generaci\u00f3 de residus. A m\u00e9s, l\u2019energia requerida \u00e9s m\u00ednima.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alba Ceballos-Escalera<\/strong> ha investigat el desenvolupament de processos d\u2019electro-bioremediaci\u00f3 per l\u2019eliminaci\u00f3 de nitrat a diferents escales. El treball experimental es va iniciar al laboratori i va concloure amb el <strong>tractament d\u2019aigua subterr\u00e0nia contaminada en una planta pilot ubicada a Navata<\/strong> (Alt Empord\u00e0). Els resultats principals s\u00f3n:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Millora de la reducci\u00f3 del nitrat fins a 5.0 kg NO<sub>3<\/sub><sup>&#8211;<\/sup>m<sup>-3<\/sup>d<sup>-1<\/sup> (HRT<sub>cat<\/sub>7 h) a escala laboratori i fins a 1.0 kg NO<sub>3<\/sub><sup>&#8211;<\/sup> m<sup>-3<\/sup>d<sup>-1<\/sup>(HRTcat 0.7 h) a escala de planta pilot (tractament d\u2019aigua subterr\u00e0nia contaminada amb nitrats in situ). L\u2019eliminaci\u00f3 \u00f2ptima dels nitrats t\u00e9 lloc a pH 6 i a 35\u00baC amb una demanda relativament baixa d\u2019energia (4-6 kWh kg<sup>-1<\/sup> NO<sub>3<\/sub><sup>&#8211;<\/sup>). La despesa operativa (OPEX) \u00e9s 0.40 \u20ac m<sup>-3<\/sup>. Per assolir aquesta fita, la investigadora va estudiar el disseny del reactor, la matriu d\u2019aigua i reptes relacionats amb l\u2019operaci\u00f3 en un entorn rellevant real.<\/li>\n<li>Demostraci\u00f3 de la possibilitat de tractar aigua contaminada amb coexist\u00e8ncia de nitrat i arsenit. L\u2019arsenit es va oxidar de manera eficient a arseniat com un pas cr\u00edtic per la seva eliminaci\u00f3, reduint d\u2019aquesta manera la seva toxicitat.<\/li>\n<li>Integraci\u00f3 del proc\u00e9s de desinfecci\u00f3 electroqu\u00edmica en un sistema d\u2019electro-bioremediaci\u00f3 d\u2019una etapa, obtenint un efluent que compleix amb els par\u00e0metres de qualitat de l\u2019aigua de boca, no nom\u00e9s pel que fa als l\u00edmits de nitrats i nitrits sin\u00f3 tamb\u00e9 pel que fa als pat\u00f2gens.<\/li>\n<li>Desenvolupament d\u2019un reactor de descalcificaci\u00f3 electroqu\u00edmic sense membranes com a pre-tractament per a l\u2019eliminaci\u00f3 de nitrats per electro-bioremediaci\u00f3. La pres\u00e8ncia de cal\u00e7 en l\u2019aigua subterr\u00e0nia pot afectar el rendiment de l\u2019electro-bioremediaci\u00f3.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Aquests resultats constitueixen un pas significatiu per aprofitar tot el potencial de l\u2019electro-bioremediaci\u00f3 per tractar la contaminaci\u00f3 d\u2019aig\u00fces subterr\u00e0nies per nitrats, i demostren la seva sostenibilitat ambiental i competitivitat econ\u00f2mica. A m\u00e9s, s\u2019ha provat que la tecnologia \u00e9s prou vers\u00e0til per tractar diferents contaminants com l\u2019arsenit i els pat\u00f2gens. S\u2019obre, doncs, el cam\u00ed per dur a terme m\u00e9s tasques de R+D que condueixen a la implementaci\u00f3 de la tecnologia a escala real i a la seva comercialitzaci\u00f3. La tesis, que va ser dirigida pels Drs. Sebasti\u00e0 Puig, Maria Dolors Balaguer i Narc\u00eds Pous del Laboratori d\u2019Enginyeria Qu\u00edmica i Ambiental de la Universitat de Girona (LEQUIA), es defensar\u00e0 el \u00a0<u>20 de
