data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>El proc\u00e9s de potabilitzaci\u00f3 compr\u00e8n un seguit de tractaments que tenen com a objectiu eliminar contaminants de les aig\u00fces superficials i obtenir una aigua de qualitat apta pel consum hum\u00e0. D\u2019entre tots els contaminants que cal eliminar, destaca la mat\u00e8ria org\u00e0nica natural o NOM (de l\u2019angl\u00e8s, <em>natural organic matter<\/em>). La NOM \u00e9s un conjunt de compostos org\u00e0nics producte de la descomposici\u00f3 i de l\u2019activitat microbiol\u00f2gica. Reduir-ne la concentraci\u00f3 \u00e9s tot un repte: la NOM \u00e9s heterog\u00e8nia, presenta fluctuacions i t\u00e9 capacitat per a reaccionar amb els compostos qu\u00edmics utilitzats per la desinfecci\u00f3 generant subproductes o DBPs (de l\u2019angl\u00e8s, <em>disinfection by-products<\/em>), compostos legislats degut a la seva toxicitat. A l\u2019inici del tractament trobem la coagulaci\u00f3, una operaci\u00f3 unit\u00e0ria que presenta un alt potencial per l\u2019eliminaci\u00f3 de la NOM; es tracta d\u2019un proc\u00e9s fisicoqu\u00edmic que consisteix en afegir un seguit de reactius per afavorir la sedimentaci\u00f3 i aix\u00ed eliminar contaminants de l\u2019aigua. La coagulaci\u00f3 \u00e9s un tractament \u00e0mpliament instaurat que presenta un rendiment variable en funci\u00f3 del fraccionament de la NOM i de les dosificacions de reactius aplicats.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>La tesi de <strong>Jordi Suquet Mas\u00f3<\/strong> <strong>\u201cDevelopment of an environmental decision support system to enhance coagulation in drinking water treatment plants\u201d<\/strong> ha investigat l\u2019optimitzaci\u00f3 d\u2019aquest proc\u00e9s de coagulaci\u00f3 a trav\u00e9s de sistemes d\u2019ajut a la decisi\u00f3 en dominis ambientals o EDSS \u00a0(de l\u2019angl\u00e8s, <em>Environmental Decision Support Systems<\/em>). Els EDSS s\u00f3n eines provinents del camp de la intel\u00b7lig\u00e8ncia artificial les quals permeten integrar dades, models i coneixement expert amb la finalitat de sistematitzar les respostes i disminuir el temps d\u2019actuaci\u00f3. Si actualment els podem aplicar al sector de l\u2019aigua, \u00e9s perqu\u00e8 aquest no ha restat ali\u00e8 a la digitalitzaci\u00f3 que s\u2019ha instaurant de manera transversal en tota la societat. Aix\u00ed, la investigaci\u00f3 i el desenvolupament de sensors i analitzadors en l\u00ednia eficients i econ\u00f2micament competitius permet monitoritzar par\u00e0metres relacionats amb la NOM a la captaci\u00f3 i durant el tractament de l\u2019aigua, incloent la coagulaci\u00f3. Aquestes dades queden cont\u00ednuament enregistrades a les bases de dades de les estacions de tractament d\u2019aigua potable o DWTPs (de l\u2019angl\u00e8s, <em>Drinking Water Treatment Plants<\/em>), i el seu estudi ens aporta informaci\u00f3 valuosa per poder detectar tend\u00e8ncies i comportaments, aix\u00ed com per la determinaci\u00f3 dels \u00f2ptims per l\u2019operaci\u00f3.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019investigador ha centrat el seu estudi en tres DWTPs de Catalunya, amb reptes de gesti\u00f3 d\u2019aigua t\u00edpics de la conca Mediterr\u00e0nia. D\u2019entrada, la tesi doctoral ha implicat nombroses tasques d\u2019adquisici\u00f3 i an\u00e0lisi de dades. A partir d\u2019aqu\u00ed s\u2019ha procedit amb la planificaci\u00f3 i realitzaci\u00f3 d\u2019un seguit de campanyes de mostreig, an\u00e0lisis de laboratori, experiments per la coagulaci\u00f3 millorada, avaluaci\u00f3 de les dades per la identificaci\u00f3 d\u2019escenaris i, finalment, el desenvolupament i estudi dels models de coagulaci\u00f3 millorada que finalment han estat integrats en una proposta final d\u2019EDSS.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Els resultats obtinguts han estat publicat en revistes cient\u00edfiques internacionals, i permetran avan\u00e7ar per optimitzar i automatitzar l\u2019eliminaci\u00f3 de la NOM en DWTPs. Els m\u00e9s significatius s\u00f3n:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>S\u2019ha demostrat que l\u2019aigua de riu presenta fluctuacions de NOM impredictibles caracteritzades per la pres\u00e8ncia d\u2019alta terbolesa, condicionant aix\u00ed l\u2019\u00f2ptim operacional de la coagulaci\u00f3. En els pantans les altes concentracions de NOM es produeixen en episodis climatol\u00f2gics excepcionals.<\/li>\n<li>S\u2019ha desenvolupat una metodologia espec\u00edfica i s\u2019ha procedit amb el desenvolupament de models emp\u00edrics de coagulaci\u00f3 millorada pels tres casos d\u2019estudi.<\/li>\n<li>S\u2019han identificat diferents escenaris de concentraci\u00f3 de la NOM de l\u2019aigua d\u2019entrada i s\u2019ha procedit a avaluar els \u00f2ptims operacionals en cada cas.<\/li>\n<li>A partir de l\u2019estudi dels models, s\u2019han determinat els par\u00e0metres significatius per assolir l\u2019eliminaci\u00f3 de la NOM en cada escenari i font de captaci\u00f3 d\u2019aigua (riu, pantans).<\/li>\n<li>S\u2019ha establert que la NOM hidrof\u00f2bica domina els escenaris d\u2019alta c\u00e0rrega org\u00e0nica. Per aix\u00f2, \u00e9s clau eliminar UV<sub>254<\/sub>durant la coagulaci\u00f3 per minimitzar els DBPs.<\/li>\n<li>S\u2019ha desenvolupat i validat un EDSS jer\u00e0rquic estructurat en tres nivells (adquisici\u00f3 de dades, control i supervisi\u00f3) amb l\u2019objectiu d\u2019eliminar la NOM i minimitzar la formaci\u00f3 de DBPs a trav\u00e9s de la coagulaci\u00f3 millorada.
