data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>L\u2019escassesa d&#8217;aigua continua empenyent regions de tot el m\u00f3n a cercar recursos h\u00eddrics alternatius, com ara la dessalinitzaci\u00f3 d&#8217;aigua de mar i la reutilitzaci\u00f3 d\u2019aigua residual. Si b\u00e9 la dessalinitzaci\u00f3 per osmosi inversa subministra aigua de manera fiable, continua estant limitada per l&#8217;alt consum d&#8217;energia espec\u00edfic i els impactes ambientals de l&#8217;eliminaci\u00f3 de salmorra. Alhora, l&#8217;abocament d&#8217;aig\u00fces residuals tractades \u00e9s una oportunitat perduda per a la seva reutilitzaci\u00f3 i la recuperaci\u00f3 de recursos. En aquest context, es proposa un sistema h\u00edbrid d&#8217;osmosi directa-osmosi inversa (OD-OI) capa\u00e7 de diluir l&#8217;aigua de mar i pre-concentrar les aig\u00fces residuals de manera simult\u00e0nia, tot reduint la intensitat energ\u00e8tica de la dessalinitzaci\u00f3, i augmentant la recuperaci\u00f3 d&#8217;aigua i de recursos de les aig\u00fces residuals.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Aquesta tesi va demostrar, mitjan\u00e7ant enfocaments de modelitzaci\u00f3 i de disseny, que optimitzant els processos de diluci\u00f3 osm\u00f2tica \u00e9s possible aconseguir una recuperaci\u00f3 d&#8217;aig\u00fces residuals de fins al 90% en processos d\u2019osmosi directa i reduir l&#8217;energia de dessalinitzaci\u00f3 d&#8217;osmosi inversa per sota d&#8217;1 kWh\/m\u00b3. Un altre resultat rellevant \u00e9s la viabilitat de processar aigua de mar dilu\u00efda en una planta dessalinitzadora existent per a millorar el sistema h\u00edbrid OD-OI i augmentar aix\u00ed la producci\u00f3 de permeat fins al 67%. Tot i aix\u00ed, quan es compara energ\u00e8ticament el proc\u00e9s OD-OI amb esquemes independents, la reutilitzaci\u00f3 aut\u00f2noma de l&#8217;aigua continua essent atractiva. M\u00e9s enll\u00e0 d\u2019aquestes valuoses troballes, el treball tamb\u00e9 demostra que la integraci\u00f3 de l\u2019osmosi directa com a etapa de concentraci\u00f3 pr\u00e8via dep\u00e8n de la comprensi\u00f3 de les condicions hidr\u00e0uliques, l&#8217;orientaci\u00f3 del flux, la disposici\u00f3 dels m\u00f2duls i les limitacions intr\u00ednseques de transfer\u00e8ncia de massa; factors que determinen la recuperaci\u00f3 que es pot assolir i la proximitat a l\u2019equilibri osm\u00f2tic. Aix\u00ed, la combinaci\u00f3 d&#8217;experiments a escala pilot i de modelitzaci\u00f3 va revelar que una configuraci\u00f3 multi-modular en forma d&#8217;arbre que opera en flux a contracorrent promou una distribuci\u00f3 hidr\u00e0ulica m\u00e9s equilibrada i mant\u00e9 la for\u00e7a motriu osm\u00f2tica de manera m\u00e9s efica\u00e7 que una disposici\u00f3 en s\u00e8rie.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Un cop establert el potencial dels sistemes h\u00edbrids OD-OI, la tesi de Rajashree Yalamanchili es va centrar en preguntes m\u00e9s \u00e0mplies: L&#8217;aigua produ\u00efda \u00e9s segura per a la reutilitzaci\u00f3? I quin \u00e9s el potencial de recuperaci\u00f3 quan les aig\u00fces residuals pre-concentrades de l\u2019OD s&#8217;integren amb processos biol\u00f2gics com ara la digesti\u00f3 anaer\u00f2bica (DA) i les microalgues? Mitjan\u00e7ant models basats en la literatura, el sistema h\u00edbrid va mostrar un potencial de recuperaci\u00f3 en la OI de fins al 80-82% a diferents condicions de funcionament. A m\u00e9s, el permeat de l\u2019OI compleix amb les directrius per a reg agr\u00edcola, tot i que requeriria dur a terme etapes de desinfecci\u00f3 m\u00e9s avan\u00e7ades per complir amb la normativa d&#8217;aigua potable i reduir els valors d&#8217;eliminaci\u00f3 logar\u00edtmica d&#8217;amoni i pat\u00f2gens. Amb la preconcentraci\u00f3 de l\u2019OD, els impactes de la salinitat elevada i l&#8217;amoni en els processos biol\u00f2gics posteriors (sistemes de DA i microalgues) necessiten ser validats experimentalment, ja que ambd\u00f3s par\u00e0metres poden influir en l&#8217;estabilitat i la productivitat del proc\u00e9s. Tanmateix, fins i tot quan el sistema s&#8217;alimenta amb energia generada a partir de DA, la reutilitzaci\u00f3 d&#8217;aigua continua sent una opci\u00f3 de baix consum energ\u00e8tic, tot i que les p\u00e8rdues de met\u00e0 en abs\u00e8ncia de pre-concentraci\u00f3 podrien limitar els guanys energ\u00e8tics nets.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Finalment, la investigadora es va centrar en l&#8217;eliminaci\u00f3 de contaminants emergents. En un sistema h\u00edbrid OD-OI-DA, l\u2019OD aconsegueix un alt rebuig inicia d\u2019aquestes subst\u00e0ncies, per\u00f2 els compostos persistents i recalcitrants s&#8217;acumulen a l&#8217;efluent de digesti\u00f3 anaer\u00f2bica a causa d&#8217;una biodegradaci\u00f3 limitada. Pel que fa a l&#8217;aigua de mar, la diluci\u00f3 osm\u00f2tica combinada amb l&#8217;alt rebuig de l\u2019OI garanteix un permeat d\u2019alta qualitat sostinguda, amb contaminants residuals confinats a la salmorra. Les variacions operatives afecten principalment els nivells dels contaminants emergents a l&#8217;efluent de digesti\u00f3 anaer\u00f2bica, mentre que la qualitat del permeat es mant\u00e9 estable. En general, en comparaci\u00f3 amb els trens aut\u00f2noms d\u2019OI i AD-OI, el sistema h\u00edbrid OD-OI-DA proporciona les concentracions m\u00e9s baixes de contaminants emergents en el permeat i la salmorra, alhora que concentra la c\u00e0rrega m\u00e9s alta a l&#8217;efluent de la AD, la qual cosa que requereix d\u2019una gesti\u00f3 adequada.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>En conjunt, la tesi aporta nous coneixements cient\u00edfico-t\u00e8cnics sobre la integraci\u00f3 de la reutilitzaci\u00f3 i la dessalinitzaci\u00f3 mitjan\u00e7ant sistemes h\u00edbrids OD-OI per a una reutilitzaci\u00f3 segura de l&#8217;aigua. Tamb\u00e9 identifica par\u00e0metres i processos operatius rellevants que s&#8217;haurien d&#8217;estudiar en treballs de recerca futurs.
