The SHOWW project proposal addresses the environmental problem resulting from overexposure to negative effects associated with inadequate wastewater treatment strategies, methods and  technologies. Because wastewater treatment processes require sizable investments, it is very important that up-to-date, appropriate and viable solutions be implemented. Failing to do so delays reduction of environmental pressure (and results in ineffective use of taxpayers money). Several are the environmental impacts due to the inadequate management of the purification plants, today among these more relevant appear the aspects related to the emission of greenhouse-gas and nutrients (nitrogen and phosphorus) eutrophic.
