Several partners from the SPORE-MED<\/a> consortium (Institut Sup\u00e9rieur de Biotechnologie de Sfax<\/a>, LEQUIA<\/a>, Sostenipra<\/a> and Sanitary Environmental Engineering Division (SEED)<\/a>) contributed to the SPORE-MED<\/a> PRIMA Partnership<\/a> Special Session at the 7th\u00a0Euro-Mediterranean Conference for Environmental Integration (EMCEI-2025; https:\/\/lnkd.in\/dBiYmDxh<\/a> ) with engaging and impactful oral presentations. Their work highlighted key advancements in sustainable agriculture and environmental resilience across the Mediterranean.<\/p>\n

In concrete, our colleague Anna Petit Boix<\/a> represented our team at the conference in the context of the SPORE-MED<\/a> project.<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udca7 For the past few months, Roger Plans i Vilardell<\/a>, Laura Talens Peir\u00f3<\/a> and Anna Petit Boix<\/a> have been working on the \u30cf\u30c3\u30b7\u30e5\u30bf\u30b0<\/span>lifecycleassessments of the SPORE-MED<\/a> technologies dedicated to energy and nutrient recovery in wastewater treatment plants. We collaborated with Oriol Carb\u00f3 Monmany<\/a> and Marta Campabadal<\/a> from GS Inima Environment<\/a> to conduct a theoretical energy balance and environmental assessment of the PROGRAMOX technology for energy upgrades.<\/p>\n

\u26a1 The results are promising! We expect an increase in at least 14% of the energy self-sufficiency of a wastewater treatment plant. The LCA results will be available soon!<\/p>\n

UdG also presented their work on phosphorus recovery as struvite. The work was carried out together with Emma Company Mas\u00f3<\/a>, Jesus Colprim<\/a>, and as part of the research efforts of the LEQUIA<\/a> group, within the framework of the SPORE-MED<\/a> project.<\/p>\n

In addition, the session in featured contributions from another PRIMA Partnership<\/a> project (WATERMED4.0<\/a>), making it a valuable moment for exchange, collaboration, and shared learning within the wider research community.
