Research topics: Biological nutrient removal for wastewater treatment:  control and operation. Combined partial nitrite oxidation and anammox process to treat high ammonium concentration from wastewater. Granular systems for biological nutrient removal: granulation process, microbial dynamic and operation. Design and operation of bioelectrical systems (BES) to treat domestic and industrial wastewater and polluted groundwater. Microbial Electrolysis Cells (MEC) to produce added value products from carbon dioxide emissions.
