WWTP of Battipaglia (Italy)

The Battipaglia WWTP hosts a pilot-scale Living Membrane Bioreactor (LMBR) system installed as a secondary treatment unit. The system treats the preliminary effluent of the WWTP and is being evaluated for the removal of micro-pollutants, including pharmaceutical compounds, and microplastics (MPs) from urban wastewater. The installation and operation are carried out by the SEED research group of the University of Salerno (UNISA, Italy).
