BOULEMBOU23
Social community commitment project in a rural town in Senegal. Co-development between Salt anb Boulembou

BOULEMBOU23 project is linked to NGO “Amics de Boulembou”, founded in 2026 by humanitarian workers and immigrants of Salt municipality (Girona). The project will prioritize the following interventions: Environment: water quality; food: orchards; Health: care to pregnant women and children; and personnel training.
The overall project goal is the improvement of health, welfare and training of Boulembou families, with special attention to pregnant women and children. To achieve such goal, BOULEMBOU23 will carry out three main activities: 1) within the environmental field, to study the improvement to access to potable water in Boulembou; 2) within the agrarian field, to study the improvement of food production in orchards (concerning diversity and pests control); and 3) within the health field, one activity at Poste de Santé to improve the care given to women and babies in pregnancy and childbirth. The latest activity will involve the implementation of echography and building health workers capacity. The proposal is aligned with several development sustainable goals (DSGs): 2 (zero hunger), 3 (health and welfare), 4 (quality education), 5 (gender equality) and 6 (clean water and sanitation) and, indirectly, 11 (sustainable cities and communities).
