i3WaterS

intelligent, innovative, integrative Water Systems

Water scarcity is an urgent global challenge. The EU-funded i3WaterS project aims to make water distribution systems (WDSs) more robust and reliable. For the first time, a comprehensive approach will map the links between everyday operations, extreme events, and system failures, providing actionable protocols. By integrating data, expert knowledge, and advanced AI-driven simulations into an intelligent decision support system, i3WaterS will enable science-based management of WDSs. Fifteen doctoral candidates will receive specialised training spanning network monitoring, modelling, AI, microbiology, ethics, and industry practices, equipping a new generation of globally connected professionals to advance sustainable water management and critical infrastructure resilience.
